So I need a blog that my mom doesn’t read… October 2, 2008

Yeah. My personal blog is a way for me to post the odd tidbit about my life, but I want to be able to talk about the things that are going to make my mom and other family members probably uncomfortable. I need to rant about some things, like religion, and I need to do it freely.
I picked “Tranching Reality” because I thought that it was a good blog cliche. It has a verb, tranching, which is topical (based upon the idea of a tranche), and the word reality. In short order, I was able to rationalize the reason behind the choice. I am, after all, a prospective grad student, and I work full time in a professional career. I’m thus slicing my time and offering those slices with various guarantees of return. My spouse currently gets the tier 1 tranche, work tier 2, school tier 3, myself tier 4, and my social life tier 5. Tiers 2 and three seem to swap frequently, however tiers 4 and 5 remain firmly where they are.
So I’m taking the time out to give tier 4 a little love, with some possible spillover into tier 5. I don’t really know if the internet counts as a social life, though…
Welcome back. I understand that it’s important to keep a work-life balance and the need to vent.
I can also sympathize the need to keep something separate from family. That is why I keep my separate from my personal life. It’s important to me not to offend the people who matter most.
It worries me that you have become more of a word nerd than I am. Not so much worry for you — rather I worry that I am letting my fields of word nerdiness go fallow …
In any case, thanks for the explanation of tranching.
